Actual Tails from Thailand!

All 17 pups nurse from all four momma dogs!!
Tuesday Nov 8.  Long night... my room is next to some of the dog kennels, and the dogs had barking choruses off and on until about 10pm and again starting at 4am...but amazingly enough, I would fall back to sleep!

The elephants can go into the river to cool off.
Notice the stick in her trunk:  she was using it to scratch her leg!

After a light breakfast, we were off to the clinic.  We had several cases right at the start.  Several handlers come in with cases that they want to have seen.  Some are new problems, others are ongoing.  There appears to be a lot of kidney and liver disease in the young dogs here.  Most are 4-5 years old.  They are vaccinated for leptospirosis, so that should not be an issue.  Hopefully, the next poor dog that succumbs to kidney problems will have a post mortem performed, hope for a diagnosis and help save other dogs.

Looking into the elephant kitchen where they store and prep produce for the pachyderms.

The budget appears to be almost unlimited!  Many lab samples are sent daily to a local diagnostic lab. We have ultrasound capabilities, digital x-ray and many in house diagnostics available.  Way more than I have at my clinic!  And any case that is beyond our capabilities to diagnose or treat, we can send to the hospital in Chiang Mai.  Quite amazing!
Decided we needed some "Tails from Thailand" so here are a few!!  Enjoy!

Tomorrow a group of us are planning to go tubing on the river!  Almost time for dinner.  Better get over there.  Maybe
another massage tonight?!?!?
Until later!
