Puppies and passing...

The view from my window in the morning.
Friday November 11:  It stormed all night.  Lots of lightning and roooooollllllling thunder.  The roads were totally flooded.  Power went out during the night (and was still out tonight).  But not raining this am.  A little cooler, some folks are wearing long sleeves.  It is not THAT cool!  But I am not sweating!
Then this lady showed up!

Puppy Pack!!
Quiet at the clinic.  My surgery cases are doing well. Bright and active, eating well.

Burial ceremony for King George

One of the old dogs that has lived here for ears, King George, died overnight.  He had been slowing down for quite awhile.  The volunteers that have been here a long time were very sad, but feel he is in a better place.  I helped a small group of dog volunteers put him in his final resting place.  Rest in peace, King George.
Snack time!
Watched the water buffalo wallowing in a deep mud bog.  They love it!  Helps to keep the bugs away.
A nice wallow!  These three ladies are sharing a mud bath.

I did some follow up cases and minor checkups, but spent most of the day following the dog
volunteers.  Got to see a lot more of the facility.  It is even larger than I realized.  During the storm, one of the little bridges over the water runoff got washed away and a dog enclosure wall collapsed!  So there were six dogs out wandering!  They were quite happy to go into a new enclosure and explore their new digs.

Puppy Pack showing off their new duds!

Overdose of cuteness!

The dog enclosures are pretty neat.  They are all quite large and hold 4-6 dogs.  There is a covered concrete pad and open dirt areas with raised houses, platforms, tubes to crawl into or climb on.  Lots of trees as well.  Really pretty nice.

Heading home at the end of the day.

Took several "puppy" breaks!  The 17 puppies with their four moms are a delight to watch.  They are very active, fat and sassy.

Not a lot more to report today.  Pretty quiet in the veterinary department!
More tomorrow!
